Bermuda Criminal Records Office Moving To New Location
November 09, 2018 posted by Steve Brownstein
As of Monday, October 29, the Criminal Records Office/Vetting Department will be located at the Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building.
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] wishes to inform the public that, as of Monday 29th October 2018, the Criminal Records Office [CRO] / Vetting Department will be located at the Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building at 58 Court Street, Hamilton [the same location as the BPS Court Liaison Unit]. Hours of operation remain the same – 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.
“We would also like to remind the public that since 1st September 2018, the BPS no longer accepts monetary payments [cash, cheques etc.] for police reports, clearance certificates / criminal record checks or fingerprinting.
“All such payments are made to the Government Cashiers beforehand [ground floor, Government Administration Building, Parliament Street] where a voucher receipt will be issued and the pink carbon copy submitted with the corresponding application paperwork as proof of payment.
“Customers may continue to make payment via wire at HSBC US Dollar account # 010-221125-511 or HSBC Bermuda Dollar account #010-221125-001. Both accounts are in the name of the Accountant General and in each case when wire payment is made, Group-Finance@bps.bm must be emailed to confirm that funds have been received prior to any service commencing.

“Although most of the vetting functions have normalised there are still some limitations.
“Because of this, applications that encounter any ‘red flag indicators/concerns’ may experience delays and possibly held pending until full resumption of operations can be achieved. Indicators/concerns can include: recent police contact as well as criminal cases [past or current].
“As before, we thank the public for their patience while we work to restore full CRO/vetting service capacity.
