Employment Screening Resources to Announce Annual Top Ten Background Check Trends for 2016

December 11, 2015 posted by Steve Brownstein

Employment Screening Resources® (ESR), a leading global screening provider that enables employers to make informed hiring decisions quickly and easily, will announce the selection of the 9th annual ‘ESR Top Ten Background Check Trends for 2016’ by ESR Founder and CEO Attorney Lester Rosen during the month of December 2015. The list featuring emerging and influential trends in the background check industry will be available at http://www.esrcheck.com/ESR-Top-Ten-Background-Check-Trends.

“Employment Screening Resources selected background check trends that will substantially impact the screening industry in 2016,” says Rosen, the author of ‘The Safe Hiring Manual,’ the first comprehensive guide for background checks that is currently undergoing a revision for a 3rd Edition set to be released in the Fall of 2016. “There will be a new number one top trend for 2016,” adds Rosen, a noted safe hiring expert and frequent speaker on background check issues at numerous national conferences.

Each of the top background check trends will be announced via the ESR News Blog throughout the month of December and listed on the ‘ESR Top Ten Background Check Trends’ webpage on the ESR website. The complete list of the top background check trends will be available at the end of the year. Since 2008, Rosen has selected the top background check trends after carefully reviewing developments from various sources regarding employment screening background checks that include:

-News reports about the background check industry.
-Hiring practices and demographics.
-Legal cases concerning background check usage.
-Background check technology advancements.

New government background check regulations at the federal and state level.

Questions and concerns raised by employers, recruiters, human resources professionals, and the security industry regarding background check usage.

Rosen is the creator of a comprehensive ESR Online Safe Hiring Certification Course and has written numerous articles and whitepapers on the subject of background check compliance. His most recent whitepaper – “Common Ways Prospective or Current Employees Sue Employers Under the FCRA” – is a response to the rising trend of class action lawsuits filed for alleged violations of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) that controls background checks for employment in the United States.

Founded by Rosen in 1997, Employment Screening Resources® (ESR) is a nationwide background check firm headquartered in the San Francisco, California-area and accredited by the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS). Rosen was chairperson of the steering committee that founded the NAPBS and served as first co-chair. ESR also successfully completed a SOC 2 Type 2 Audit Report.
