Time After Time - Naysayers Proven Wrong
At the first India Pre-employment Screening Conference back in 2007, the topic of South Korea criminal record searches was brought up.
Wayne Tollemache, representing First Advantage, confidently stated that criminal court records could not be obtained in South Korea.
However, Straightline's Steven Brownstein disagreed and mentioned that he had been getting records from the District Court in Seoul.
Tollemache's legal team had told him the records were unavailable, but Brownstein suspected they had never been to South Korea.
Almost a year later, Tollemache and Brownstein met again, and Tollemache admitted that they were indeed able to get records in Seoul and even opened up an office there.
Brownstein summed it up nicely by saying, "If I relied on his legal counsel or 'experts' who have never been at a court to do searches, I never would have been able to achieve the successes I have had in domestic and international criminal record checks."
Moral of the story? Don't always rely on secondhand information and make sure to do your own research.
