Under 13's Getting Plenty of Criminal Cautions
August 16, 2017 posted by Steve Brownstein
65 children aged under 13 in the West Midlands got a criminal record for the first time last year.
This included 23 children caught possessing weapons.
It is unclear how many reside in Coventry.
All of these 65 children received their first caution, youth caution or conviction between August 2015 and September 2016 in the region.
The vast majority of them - 60 in total - got some kind of caution.
This means that they would have admitted the offence to the police and been formally warned.
Cautions don’t count as criminal convictions but they can show up on criminal record checks.
