What Is A Local Police Record Check In India?

What is a local police check?

 It is a check of a police station's records for an arrest at that station. That's it. No more. But sometimes less.

Some police stations have no staff, clerical that is.

And while one side of a road might have a local police station, across the street there might be another local police station's jurisdiction.

And we all know that criminal always tend to saty on their side of the street.

Then one question remains.  Why perform a local police check?
